New app improves club communication

New App Improves Club's Communication

Being able to effectively engage and communicate with your members is a vital to running any successful club and Wortley Golf Club knows this and already employees the usual strategies of email, club notice boards and updating members software.
This however relies on members reading them at the right time - this is especially important with course updates as they can change quite rapidly.
So in line with their club strategy, the marketing committee looked at a more effective way to communicate with their members and engaged club app specialists, CourseMate, to create a fully branded app for their club that came with free unlimited push notifications.

“It was not feasible to expect members to keep checking their email inboxes at intervals throughout the day to see revised course conditions or keep calling the club house for updates so we sort out a better, easier way for us to inform members. Push notifications direct from our app has been a very successful way to achieve this.” Said Kevin Mooney, Club Member in charge of the project.
“ It has been especially useful in times of bad weather - only the other day we had the course closed very first thing due to the snow and we then opened up very shortly afterwards. If members had only read the first email they wouldn’t have come to course and missed their match.”
“ Even worse when it’s the other way around.” Mooney continued “In the past our first email said the course was open, but then later a second email went out as we had to cancel matches due to the weather only to find members turning up expecting a game as they had only seen the first email. Our CourseMate app eliminates this”
It’s not just push notifications the club app is capable of, the new App which has a host of features was designed and produced for Wortley by the CourseMate team in conjunction with the Marketing & Membership group at the club.
Members and visitors have easy instant access to the club’s a course planner, along with GPS and pro tips, upcoming events, new club promotions, club house menus and monthly specials. The app even allows visitors to book rounds and for golfers to purchase from our pro’s online store.
“We are delighted to be working with such a friendly traditional club” Said Adam Harris, Managing Director of CourseMate “Both the members and the club have really embraced using the technology on a daily basis. We are looking forward to working together with them for many years.”
Wortley Golf Club App is available to download on iOS and Android.
